Psy - Gangnam Style

If you needed anymore proof to see how far ahead Asian pop culture is from the west, see the prime example above. Just try to observe the range of emotion during the the elevator scene. I dare you.

Madeon - Icarus

Starting like gangbusters with his Pop Culture mashup, it seems like every song produced by french wunderkind Madeon is packed with dynamite. His latest track Icarus continues to deliver with an infectious build-up leading to wickedly syncopated synth. I've always had a hard time trying to decide whether I prefer his remixes or his originals, but suffice to say I am eagerly awaiting his first full length release, whenever he decides to make one.

CBS to join up with MLG and

Announced today, CBS Interactive will be partnering with Major League Gaming and to promote and develop the esports sector in the United States.

CBSi is no stranger to the videogame market with properties including and recent acquisition and is looking to expand into the growing esports market with these partnerships. MLG is one of the leading hosts of esports tournaments with matches playing Halo, Starcraft 2 and League of Legends. MLG has signed on to be the exclusive online broadcaster for CBSi who served over 15 million hours of gaming in 2011 with each event bringing in upwards of 200,000 concurrent viewers. will also be working with CBSi for exclusive rights to advertising and promotion allowing CBS to reach Twitch’s 25 million users and to help further develop the esports scene.

This move places CBS firmly in place of a rapidly growing market including the valuable 18-34 male audience. The total prize pool of the MLG season finale last year in providence totaled over $200,000 and with the future support from a big name such as CBSi can only stand to grow not just for players, but fans as well.

This also brings a security to the future of esports in the U.S as MLG has been recently experimenting different strategies to test the feasibility of their esports business. This may be a large step in bringing the U.S. closer to the Korean esports scenes that already has TV channels similar to ESPN devoted to esports coverage and where top players are just as well known as movie stars or pop singers.

MLG’s next event will be their Starcraft 2 Spring Arena to be held April 20-22 in New York City.

Hesta Prynn - Turn It Gold (Ido Z Remix)

It's not often a remix is able to surpass the original, but I think we have another case with Ido Z's remix of Turn it Gold by Hesta Prynn. There's never really an objective consensus on what's better, but I much prefer the faster synth redress as opposed to the sparse lo-fi nature of the original. Even the video would seem to be better captured by the remix, but be your own judge and check them both out below.

Van She - Idea of Happiness

Oh Van She, how I've missed you. It's been four years since their last LP and I didn't realize how much I needed their smooth dance rock stylings in my life. Van She are ramping up towards their next full length release also named Idea of Happiness schedueled for release in July. This video comes from director Andreass Nilsson who has also worked with MGMT, The Knife, Yeasayer and others. This video seems to be the spiritual succesor to Sebastien Tellier's Kilometer right down to the hair and unusual house guests. So enjoy your lastest dose of Australian groove with their newest video.
